Underbody rustproofing/prevention in WNY

I had mine done with Rusfre Black cut with some type of heavy oil. sprayed on nice and cleaned up easily on the oversprayed spots with degreaser and a pressure washer. This is my first year so we will see how it goes. Cost me $100 for a full size ext cab pickup

Looking to have undercoating done on my truck before snow is flying. Do all places use a dark oil based product? I’m looking for something that goes on and dries (or hardens somewhat) clear so it will not cover up all my shocks, skids, etc.

I know Amsoil offers a product (HDMP - Heavy Duty Metal Protector) that some guys are using on their Raptors as it dries clear but it’s a DIY with aerosol cans.

carwell uses like a light pinkish clear solution.

The product we use at Rustkote is a 2 step process. There is a top coat for inside the panels and a bottom coat for the underside of the vehicle. When the bottom coat is first sprayed it has a “wet” appearance but it will dry clear and protect the undercarriage.

I used this on my truck last year. It might be too cold now to apply… not 100% on that but worth a shot. Love the stuff and diy was a bit dirty but I know it was done right and not half-assed.

Prob. going to do this with my truck…

Looks like that Rustkote place listed above is doing buy one get one free, do you have a full size truck?
Both get 50% off…

I have a Ranger, but will def. do that with you if they allowed it.

Yeah you guys can defiantly do that. Only suggestion to make it easier is that you get both done at the same location either Eastern Hills Mall Sears Auto Center 4545 Transit rd or Mckinley Mall Sears Auto Center 3701 Mckinley Parkway. You can make the appointment on the website, Rustkote.com or call 716-810-1608.

I want to take my 4runner, anyone want to go with me to get the buy one get one?

I wanted to get the Xterra done. 93dx if you want my number is in my sig

PM sent

Will call shortly, thanks man.

So the car wells stuff is ok for cars that already have some rust underneath? Also, if I take my car through delta constantly in winter after giving it sufficient time to cure will that have any effect on it?

Yes you can apply over rust.

Carwell has a lot of information on their site and the pamphlet they give you after the application. I have never washed my vehicle in the winter after being coated. I always do a thorough cleaning in the spring. Never had any issues and the frame of my truck is still like new.

With Rustkote you can apply over existing rust and it will soak into the rust and penetrate to the remaining good metal and protect it from future rust.
And as far as washing the undercarriage it is usually a good rule of thumb to wait 10 - 14 days after application before using a high pressure car wash. But after the 14 days when the product has fully dried it generally will last about a year before needing to be recoated, even with repeated washing.

Had the Carwells done on my truck, we’ll see how it works by the springtime I guess. Glad I park it on the stones and not the driveway though… Also that shit makes your tires pretty slick for the first drive out of there. LOL

X…

Does Rustkote offer an anti-rust guarantee such as Carwell? If so, I’m interested since I waited too long to have my charger applied.

Took the wife’s new 4 runner in yesterday to Carwells. Guy there did a pretty damn good job, dude said it was cool if I watched him do the application. They really do blast the stuff in the doors and lowers. They could be stingier with the product if they wanted to but they indeed applied it thoroughly
The product is really slippery FYI, my wife’s running boards are crazy slick and I have wiped them off a couple times already.

Sorry for the late response, I somehow missed your question.

But yes there is an warranty against rust. I pm’d you the details.
Thanks
