evolve, are you saying that all PDAs will be treated as the BlackBerry is now?
Verizons BB service is only 20/mo unlimited I thought? My brother just signed up with an 8310 and his bill is only like 45-50 and he has 450 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited data for BB.
$20/month for BB for email and web. PDAs require a $30/month plan.
Monthly Blackberry access STARTS at 79.99 when bundled with 450 minutes for voice.
barf. They must need to get their ARPU up to recoup the loot they spent on alltel
79.99 a month as the bare minimum to use any phone without the shitty VZW software is pretty weaksauce.
This does not answer my question though. Am I required to order the data plan for a PDA after the 14th?
fuckin aye man, fucking aye
Switch to AT&T and get a free Blackjack II or a cheap Tilt with wifi, and pay 39.99 with rollover.
+1
If you think about it, the ETF you are going to pay to verizon would be the same as buying a new smartphone. Might as well save the money and switch
if the data plan is not required I can do that same thing on Verizon.
Also, I get discounts for Verizon through work, as well as saving money doing a family plan with the GF.
Seriously, I really don’t want to switch carriers
And if my aunt has balls, she’s my uncle. :gotme: Doesn’t look like that’s an option.
yes for new PDA purchases
LOL
nah. $40 plan 450 mins + $30 data plan = $70
wtf really? wow thats fucking dumb - and everyone cried about the iphone data plan requirement.
doesn’t matter to me because i’ll always have a data plan, but still, thats fucked.
edit: and since you’re not in WNY, I guess AT&T may be ok, don’t know what the coverage is like for your area. Also, don’t know why you’re concerned about getting the “full windows mobile” if you’re not getting a data plan. There is very few difference I can think of, and they would all require data usage (like remote desktop)
you really dont need a pda/smartpone if you dont need data.
what are your issues with the voyager?
do you have the latest software??
the dare is good, env2 is good. chocolate 3 is also good if you dont need a keyboard
BB’s are good if you want email and web access, WinMo sucks. especially if you are not using the device for what it was made for. and dont even think about a centro, those are total garbage.
There’s a ton of misinformation in this thread, as usual with 99% of the cell phone threads on this forum.
EDGE is 2g, not 3g.
GSM’s 3G is HSDPA (High speed data packet access)
CDMA’s 3G is called EV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized).
It’s UMTS, not UTMS.
The i760 was pulled because there is a glitch with the i760s that use MEIDs, not because of WinMo 6.0 or 6.1 being on the device.
I work for Verizon but I’m pretty unbiased about this crap so I really don’t care, but lets get the facts straight. Verizon’s 3G network is MUCH larger than AT&Ts, however AT&T’s data network does spike to higher speeds.
Verizon has also had 3G capable data phones for the longest time while AT&T is just finally starting to come out with them (the iPhone 3G, Blackberry Bold).
Verizon is also now starting to come out with Rev A. capable phones. The Dare is the first one. The XV-6800 and Motorola Q9C when upgraded to WinMo 6.1 are both also 3G EVDO Rev A. The BB Storm will also be Rev A.
For those of you that don’t know what Rev A. is, it’s Verizon’s broadband wireless network.
none of the phones that you listed are good. The software is shitty, I hate the UIs and the dare’s touch screen keyboard isn’t too easy to use.
why is the software shitty? what do you want to do with your phone?
all of those are great phones, we wouldnt sell a shit ton of them if they sucked. a good majority of the people in my district, that dont have blackberrys, have one of those 3 phones or the voyager. i dont think people would be sticking themselves with shitty phones.
you still have not told us what your problems are with your voyager. what does it do/not do?
The generic non smartphone verizon phones all run thier base system so there is no interface changes or features really between phones nad you are locked into using Get It Now for any software.
