These are the kind of items when somebody can tell you that they paid $$$$ for them just make you scratch your head and ask “why?” as you don’t see justification for the crazy premium when you have cheaper items that do nearly as good of a job.
Easiest one that comes to mind is HDMI cables.
$934
Does the same job as a $10 and been proven to do so over and over again. In digital signal of 1’s and 0’s you either receive them or you don’t. There is no quality to 1’s and 0’s.
Second easiest example in my opinion is high end audio equipment. I can’t tell the difference, I just can’t. Even if it is there, it hardly justifies the premium.
This will start some debates in regards to items such as watches, shoes or other clothing.
high definition multimedia interface. It’s just DVI and digital coaxial audio packaged into a single cable/connector. Quality of cable does not affect A/V quality at all. If it works, that’s it. No cable can make it do more than just WORK.
definitely not something I have a need/use for. I unplugged the tv in my room a month or two when I moved my desk and havent plugged it in since. Dont even have cable there anyway.
or half the shit that people call art in the first place. Alot of it looks like a 2 year old threw paint on a piece of paper/canvas and called it a day yet somebody makes up some bullshit about how it represents a peaceful feeling or some other hippie nonsense and sells it for a ton of $.
It tells time, that’s the function.
A 10-dollar Casio will do that as well as any watch.
200 is just for the fancy-pants stuff like compasses and such.
Anything above that and it’s fashion, pure and simple.
