when someone hits your car in a parking lot while you are at work.
the damage isnt bad, but the drivers side rear body panel and bumper are scraped up pretty good. looks like someone just sideswiped me.
best part is, the office next to us (we are in a small business complex) has a collections agency in it. now, my car had been in the same spot since 830am, and i went to lunch with my boss in his car, so it did not move. when i pulled in this morning, my car and my bosses car were the only ones even close. when i came outside at 530pm, there was no car next to me, and i saw the damage. two women from the collections agency were outside, and checked out my car with me, as did my boss. we all determined it must have been a white car, as it left behind white paint. at that point, i did a lap around the lot, looking for said car, didnt see anything, and then left.
i got about a mile or so down the road, pulled a uturn, and came back on a hunch. as i was pulling back into the lot, my boss said he was standing next to a white car with black paint on the bumper… which was now parked two spots from where i was originally parked. we both agreed that 5 minutes ago this car was not there. i went into the collections agency, and politely asked who owned the white chevy malibu with conspicuous black streaks. enter douchebag lady, who comes outside, gives the WORST “im so fucking surprised!” acting job ever, and then proceeds to threaten to call the cops because I HIT HER!!! LOLOLOL.
at this point, a bunch of her coworkers were outside and all chatty and shit. the thought of me being accused of hitting her enraged me, so i quickly quieted that notion. after telling everyone politely to be quiet so we could so this out, i asked what time she got in. she said 1230, to which i responded that the only way paint could end up on her bumper is if she hit me, because my car had not moved.
our theory is that after i left, she went around back and pulled her car up so she wouldnt have to walk far in the dark. i guarantee one of the assholes she works with will know if she lied, so tomorrow i am going to go in there and offer 100 bucks to anyone that knows anything about who hit my car.
the way i see it, it is risk free. if she lied, then someone will flip (these people make peanuts, and 100 bucks will easily entice them to flip on her). if she didnt lie, then nobody will do anything, and im right where i am now.
if she did lie, then i will call the cops (not sure what could be done), file a report, and then take her to small claims court after getting sworn statements from said witnesses. could she also be charged with hit and run?
CLIFF NOTES: my car was sideswiped in the parking lot while i was at work, i think i found who did it (in the office next door), and i might be able to catch the moron in a lie. updates will probably follow!
