EXACTLY!
You won’t.
The Volvo wagon is great. It was a strong consideration versus the A7 I ended up getting for the winter car. I was a douche and preferred the Audi, but in hindsight could’ve owned a bright blue Volvo wagon. I also shopped the Range Rover lineup pretty hard but live roughly 40 minutes driving from the dealership, and if I know anything about a Range Rover, it’ll be at the dealership some.
I still think the appropriate plan is to allow the Volvo wagon to depreciate some and grab one on the aftermarket in a year or two. Ride out the VW nightmare and let the brand repair its image so you don’t eat as much hypothetical depreciation on the Golf R relative to its utilization. But hey, fuck it, you could also Hello Kitty a GTR. They cost like $50k now.
probably out of the price range but what about a CPO CLA45? 350hp. The refresh just launched with more power so the price will probably dump even harder than normal mercedes depreciation. a tune and down pipe brings it to 410hp if that is your thing and a nasty launch control. I don’t know what year your golf R is but the newer ones are 296hp vs the 240 something they made before. A tune and down pipe brings them to just under 400hp. That is serious power. Audi S3 has the same power train as the new R but is a bunch more expensive and not stick.
I do have a lot of love for the new focus RS. a lot of the comments that say it is just a focus is largely based on the old chassis. I forget the specifics and I am sure focus in progress can correct me but the US did not receive any of the european chassis until 2010. The ST and RS are not your average shit box anymore. I genuinely enjoyed the focus ST I had time in and would absolutely put it on par if not above the many GTI’s I get to ride in. A tune only focus ST keeps up with my stage 2 B5S4 running 20psi. They are pretty quick and the interior quality is excellent. nice audio, layout, and fit and finish. The tuning available on the ST I would put ahead of the VW as well since their are a lot more players in the aftermarket.
I do have an allocation for an RS left if someone would really consider purchasing. Let me know
well, that’s half correct.
the euro 1998-2004 was the same chassis as our 1999-2004. in 2005, the rest of the world got built on the same chassis as the volvo s40/c30 and a complete re-design, while in USA they simply changed the headlights, fenders, hood, and front bumper and left the rest alone until 2007. in 2008 they re-designed the USA focus into a total bastard child that looked like an early 90’s escort ate a lot of fast food. Then in 2010 they decided to go into a “world” model.
our 2002-2004 SVT is the same as the Euro ST170 aside from bumpers and some trim. drivetrains and suspension are identical. The major complaint was that we topped out with the SVT here, while europe got the RS with a turbocharged engine, wider bodywork, sparco interior, vastly improved suspension/brakes, and the 18" OZ 5-spoke wheels.
Lest we not forget that sweet Volvo sourced 5pot that they used in the UK RS…
That engine sounds so much better than any of the Ecoboost engines.
above MSRP, though, right?
I would sell it for MSRP. This is the first week that they are scheduling production. I have a White one scheduling this week that should be one of the first ones in buffalo according to my Ford Rep.
Ford has been putting out vids on youtube about the build and testing, there are a few to watch in the series, they do mention some failures along the way in one of the episodes, but don’t really get into detail about it…
The only way I’d be interested is if it could be blue. What’s the delivery date? You can PM me.
The color is called nitrous blue.
God who gets 5% interest on loans these days? Lol
Lock your lending in soon - or just buy in cash, finance via home equity line of credit, etc.
Are these not being made yet? I can’t find any for sale.
Just started production this month…we will see them in the states in “spring” is what ford keeps telling me…No solid dates currently
I thought I saw some places getting them already?
Nonsense. Van Bortle Ford in Rochester I bet can do invoice if they have an allocation for one. Also I bet they give you a good number on your trade.
Yea this part is tough to buy a car that a base one is… what? $18k and then have to explain why you decided to pay for the $40k one. Similar to Jetta’s. They have the fully loaded decked out one for like $45k and a base one with no features for less than $20k.
I get it but the same can be said for a ton of cars… Focus, Lancer, WRX, Golf. Hell, you can even make the same comparison on the luxury end. Like @boxxa , why the hell are you driving around a poverty 135 when you can be buying the M version? Peasant…
If I saw one of these new RS models I would still break my neck looking at it. For those in the know, it’s totally worth it. It’s just how it goes.
