not really sure what your point is. Itās not like the Z cars have grown in dimension much over time.
A modern day miata is more than ~5 inches shorter than the 72 240z. So even the newest model out, is a mostly smaller car. Almost all cars grow somewhat larger over time.
datsun s30 chassis length is 162.8 in (4,135 mm)
nissan 370z chassis length is 167.1 in
Less than a 5 inch change in length over time.
I donāt even know why we are arguing anymore to be honest. Because the Z is too heavy? When the cars that it mainly competes with are around the same weight? It is less than 100 pounds heavier than the vette. Performance wise, even with itās weight, it would probably blow the MX-5 out of the water, so it is not even a fair comparison.

To correctly compare a Miata to a Nissan built car you can not look @ the Z but the 1600 Roadster.
Length: 155.7 inches
Width: 58.9 inches
Height: 51.6 inches
Curb weight: 1,984 pounds
The Z car of that era was ~18.7% heavier than that roadster. The 350Z is ~25% heavier than the Miata. So yes the Z cars have respectively gotten bloated.
Light Japanese roadsters gained ~21% more weight, where as Z cars have gained 35% more weight in 38 ish years.
Truely you would have to compare a SX car to the Miata as they carried on the spirit of the S chasis.
