Maybe its my wheel hitting in the wheel well thats rubbing. I dont konw anymore I am just going to drive it how it is. I have a speed bump at work and I clear it fine. Today i went to fast though and bottom out pritty hard, but take your time and there is no problems.

that does not look much lower then the car with a set of sportline springs

Justin, did you go as far as it goes in the rear? And for front, you should
be able to go a little lower without issues. It’s hard to read the figures on
your tape measure. But it looks to be just over 1" for the front and 3/4"
for the rear.

And your front bumper is just about 4.5" off the ground. Go another 1/2"
lower up front and if you have issues, remove that black bumper guard.

My car looks to be about the same height as G’s - in the back at least.
I have about a (just under, two fingers tall) 1.5" gap in the front. You
must have dropped the front a lot more - why? Just the look?

My car is lowered 2" in the front, and 1 3/4" in the back on coilovers
(300lb/in front, 280lb/in rear, mid setting)… I have no rubbing, haven’t hit
(m)any speedbumps… don’t plan on going lower or getting a lip. The
handling advantages to going lower will be minimal at best, and that lip
really does nothing except look different. Kinda. For all the zip tying and
trouble it causes, I would just get a different bumper if you want the
look? :dunno:

Paul, the only reason I went lower up front is to balance out the gap with the rear.

My tires are 55 profile. Compare that to most who have 50 (or lower).
205/55/16 = 24.9" (My front tires)
205/50/16 = 24.1"

225/55/16 = 25.7" (My rear tires)

A difference of 0.80" which is about 20mm (between the 55 and 50 profile
as well as my front and rear).

I may as well raise the front up another 1/4" or so just to avoid the
rubbing issue. Looking at your side shot (Paul), the car doesn’t sit in an
angle whereas mine does.

I was 1/2" lower on the front befor but i had crazy rubbing. Just driving and it would rub thats why i put it up. When I get my Falkens I will finish set the hight again. And yes the back is slamed as much as posibul.

There aren’t bumpstops on these coilovers.

I lowered my car 4" and I still have full suspention travel.

I’ll get pix tomorow but my lip is about an inch off the ground.

touge factory spacers, falken Azenis tires, Impuls, tt Z brakes (with WRX STI caliper clearance…OH SNAP)

 at offset on bing’s front wheels.

You’ve got more of a wheelgap up front then I thought bing.

wow!..the d2s look great guys…keep the pics comming!

i went down to 18mm spacer and a 205 up front but it still sticks out beyond the fender…

so ‘F’ my paint, i am going to drive like this…

i am already running a couple degrees of negative camber… i will prolly go as far neg as i can go and drop it another half inch when i get an alignment done…

frig this car grips like nothing i have ever felt before.

I am getting rubbing on the lip, and it is not nice. I have to take the “driveways” on an angle. I think I might raise the front about 1/2 inch.

Got my falkens today. I think I am going to leave the wheel gap how it is because not I dont have to worry about the tire rubbing.

i haven’t finnished the fronts yet, i’m still working on the enginebay and frame and i don’t want to get the coils covered in slag or rockergaurd paint.

and yes i know the rotors are gross, the car has sat for months because of motor problems.

Man fcuk I hate how huge the wheel well is on the S13’s…

Justin your drop looks nice and the rims and tires look nice but that gap all around… bah

I know but I don’t want to go lower. I have about 3" of room form the ground to my black lip thing and a 1.5" wheel gap. So that means I would be 1.5" off the ground. Every turn and I would scrape along the ground. But the way it’s set up now there is no scraping anymore (because of the stiff sidewalls) and no tire rub. So I am pretty happy how it is. Next year I will get 16" rims.

I dont mean from the top but side to side…

i’m just doing the install right now. I forgot to set the spring height to 7-3/8". I tried to set it once it was on, but the most i can get is 8". do i have to take everything off and reset the spring height?

i’m a rookie at this stuff… just trying to learn. when i did test drive the tire hit the inside wall. first i guess i have to decrease the spring height right? and next is to set the damper?

also, how do i increase and decrease the ride height without unbolting the bracket?

You don’t have to do the 7-3/8" spring height. It’s just a preload. You
can always adjust the preload later on using the spanner wrenches.

The D2s should be good to go once out of the box. Just make sure all the
spring heights are same and then bolt it up at the top. Then adjust the
bottom mount to lower the car accordingly.

ok, i’m done w/the install. The car sits way to low at the back (covers part of the wheels) and at the front i’ve got this weird problem.

Front:
The driver side ride height is fine. I made sure the preload was 8.0" and left behind about 0.8" threads at the bottom of the strut. The passenger side is higher than the other. I tried adjusting several times but I can’t get them both to be exactly the same without mismatching the preload and other measurements between the two front struts.

Rear:
Some cambering in both the tires. The ride is very low. I was wondering how much can the d2 coilovers be extended. I kept unscrewing them but then stopped because i thought it was just about to fall out. Would I be able to set approx an inch distance between the outer wall and the tire? right now it falls on top of the tire by 3/4 of an inch.

Another Problem:
When I brake the car, I hear some loud clunk noise from both the front coilovers. Seems like there’s a movement (somewhat). But this occurs only when I brake first time; For other stoppings, the sound isn’t present anymore. Then when I back-up and stop, I hear the same sound again. Only once though, not for other stoppings.

Did anyone of you have any of the above mentioned problems? I didn’t face the ABS light problem. That would’ve been irritating. Thanks to all the other posts, I was able to move the brake/ABS lines out of the way w/extra precautions.

This is all for now. I’m not going to drive my car until I hear back from you guys. Oh yeah, the damper settings are 3 front, 2 rear.
