Lowes is where I bought the can I am using currently. Like $5 or $6 I think. They had both spray and dipping type. Although, they only had flat black…

you can order it from summit also. that’s where i got my white plasti-dip from since nobody stocks anything but black in the spray cans

yea i can only find colors online. black is all over the hardware stores

Are there more colors than there are on the website ?

Can also buy cans at Wal-Mart :lol

I should have plasti dipped the vr-4

Just put on coat number four. Stuff is so easy to use… Since I know how bad I am at spray painting anything with a level coat. This stuff seems to settle down and level itself. Giving me a nice smooth finish after it dries, every time. One more coat later today and I will post up the pics.

why are there no videos of people fucking up their cars as they try to remove this stuff? I’ve seen dozens already.

Post one PLZ

Before

Before I smartened up and rememberred to just remove the emblem… Duh

after

Stuff is very easy to use. Make sure you have a razor to cut right at the tap line. It will peel around where you are pulling the tape. Although it is completely possible that I just suck at it.

^ Looks good. Planning on doing that to my TL at some point.

Heres one, looks like it comes off pretty clean;

Looks really good! +rep for posting that up.

ReDevil - impressive especially since he’s doing it one handed while presumably looking through the camera as well.

Stuff looks literally like liquid vinyl.

Mafdark - there are people who mess up everything. You ever see a product that is generally regarded and is good and has hundreds of 5 start or 100% reviews and then there is one or two guys who say it’s complete crap and waste of money? There is probably something wrong with them and it’s safe to go with the majority.

You’re not wrong. I saw the videos as part of a running thread on another forum, I’ll have to find it again. Most comments for the video were along the lines of improper application or removal.

Still… I’d want to watch the video of the guy destroying the paint on his late model benz before I put anything on my car, even if it’s just to make sure I don’t use the same process he did.

By all means, if you find it, share with us.

Granted if I had a nice car I wouldn’t be spray painting it with anything or even ever attempt to vinyl it myself. Just spend a few extra bucks and get the job done right.

On cars I will be trying to applying this too, I won’t shed a tear if I scratch it, I’ll brush it off as adding “character” :lol

If the weather’s good this weekend, I might try messin with this stuff on the truck and maybe my snowblower :lol. If I screw up either one, really doesnt matter. Wonder how well it covers rust…

SRS question.

Whats with:

everything circled in red? Also the side shot shows it big time,

and the black camaro in their gallery I can see some uneven coverage/finish.

I wont jump on the hate bandwagen yet, but being a autobody painter, I find it very hard to believe this stuff looks as well as people assume it does. Pictures lie, for better or worse.

If they sold the stuff in qts, pts, gals, and its not so thick, or cant be reduced that it cant be shot from say a primer gun with a 2.2 tip or something I cant see something coming from a rattle can with a 3" spray pattern wetting out and leveling itself to cover properly. Not to mention the dry time for “consumer” products, people shooting their stuff outside, in a dirty garage, etc is designed with fast flash times so bugs and dirt dont get in the “paint job”… keeping the entire job wet out so their isnt dry overlap is next to impossible on a panel larger than 2 feet wide i bet.

KK is skeptical, wants answers. :rofl

and that video redevil posted, I can see why they are removing it. Either thats how it looked from the get go, or it got contaminated or dirtied somehow. IE that giant splotchy stuff going on in the video of the stuff still applied to the roof.

See 1:14 or so, when he walks around the car. You can see the two long color differences, I bet from dry overlap. Its NOT the clouds in the sky from a reflection either, because they dont move as the camera moves around the roof.

KK’s leaning more towards the hate wagon here. Specifically for LARGE applications. Wheels, trim, grilles, etc I bet its OK, becasue its actually very hard to fuck up painting small disconnected surfaces like wheel spokes, slats in a grill, or letters on an emblem.

:popcorn

mike i love ya but stop using your self in 3rd person lmao killlln meeee!

:ROFL

YSOSRS! LOL

The stuff is 5 dollars a can, very easy to apply and easy to remove, that is the HUGE draw of it. If you wanted professional results you wouldn’t be using a product that is designed to make things such as tool handles.

FWIW I’ve used it on my front and rear emblems on the Z and it gave exactly the result I was looking for, for a quarter of the work and price any other process would have been.

Lolol:hug
