You have to pull the tape off while the dip is still wet. Otherwise it will pull right off the paint as well. Happened to me right away. You are going to have to either razor blade (scary proposition over paint) or you have to pull the tape right after application, then re-tape after it is dry for another coat. Just repeat this process.
sounds good. I’ll be in touch.
you can get it in white on ebay from summit racing and it’s only like 4$ shipping for the whole order
Yea, if we order though them it would be about 8.25 per can. Cant ship more than 4 at a time though.
when i ordered the white for my tahoe, i ordered 5 cans from summit and they all came in the same box… shipping was about $10 iirc since it’s hazmat
5$ shipping no matter how many cans. 7$ each.
how many cans are “available” per auction?
Solid find, plus rep for you.
In that auction in particular there’s 3, but when it starts I’m sure there’s at least 10. When I ordered the clear I could order up to like 22 or something.
I’m sure if you sent them a message through their ebay listing, they’d be able to give you more than 3.
I order almost everything through ebay, you’d be surprised how easy sellers will accommodate you if you simply send a message.
click the pic or the link, 1 is photobucket 1 is youtube. I can’t get them to embed for some reason
btw. this is how easy it is to remove. I have another one of painting it through the gun I’ll post ina sec
geeze, didn’t realize this thread took on such a life. I should have subscribed to it so i didn’t have to spend 45 mins to catch up.
There was a lot of good info and tips shared over the past week or so - if anyone wants clarification or any questions answered, I’m here…

Thanks for the feedback you’ve been giving throughout the thread. To address a couple comments -

Yes, we do sell it in pre-thinned, ready to spray 11 oz unit and Gallons. People and body shops get it every week to spray out of anything from Preval Sprayers to professional pressurized sprayers.

Yes, you will see pics with uneven areas. Why? Because everyday people, with all different skillsets are painting their own cars. Some people do fantastic jobs, perfectly even coverage, no texture, no spots. Some people aren’t quite as skilled and their project doesn’t come out showroom ready. That’s OK though, because half of the benefit with this is that you’re painting your own car, doing the project yourself, saving a ton of money - and it peels right back off. No real consequence.
Again, thanks for the comments and contributing to the discussion. Coming from an auto body painter as you are - I would expect nothing less :).

I really thought you could make this work… but no. I tried it out a bunch of times and got the same result anytime that the tape wasn’t at a right angle with the edge of the surface (meaning raised lettering on valve covers… taping that off and peeling off the tape worked fine.)
A flat surface simply didn’t work.
You can PlastiDip taped off surfaces and patterns no problem… video explaining how…
Good video!
