Just wanted to update - I placed an order to honda for a new set of rings, rod bolts, valve stem seals, and a new head gasket. Still trying to figure out the rod situation.
The motor is getting measured up tommorow by my friend so hopefully tommorow ill order bearings. Anyway heres some pics of progress. Tommorow Jiggs will help me out hopefully and we can really get this thing going.

Well im going to be modifying the rockers tommorow and the accepted method to doing so is chewing bubble gum, covering the soon to be removed area with this gum, shave the area and the shavings will stick to the gum. In case your wondering i have to shave the rockers if i ever decide to upgrade to a more agressive cam like the z1, tsx, ITR cams.

I will be. The car is not going to be a drag racing car but should still be fun. Im modifying the rockers so if i want to push that 260ish WHP i can with a simple cam swap. I still want a TDI

theres an MK3 blue jetta with 220k yr 97 or 98 for 2500.

Are you getting it tuned at Morgans shop or going somewhere else?

I might dyno there for shits and giggles. The motor will be tuned elsewhere. A few tuners have actually pmd me wanting to take a stab at it. Most likely going to either evans, Derek at innovative or mike@elite tuning depending on funds.

out of curiosity, why not let synapse tune it? they have a great rep and morgan is a hell of a tuner. i realize its preference… just curious about reasoning.

EDIT: Im not bagging on synapse in any way. They build some fast cars. However they have not seen a setup like mine yet. Whereas if i go to evans, mike, d-rob… I know theyre familiar with my setup and completely know what to do with the cam angles, A/f, and VTC. Again i will dyno at synapse at some point i know morgan does great work but i just feel its right to be tuned at one of these other shops.

Tommorow i will use carb cleaner to remove the excess honda bond. Hopefully ill finally get the rockers shaved.

I officially have eveything needed to finish the motor. I should have all parts by the day after xmas. Hopefully.

Should’ve gotten ARP headstuds & WTF, THREE tubes of Hondabond!!!..I used like half of one of the newest stuff from Keeler.

Hes quitting cars… right… blast explaining to me how the motor wasnt even broken in yet. Example
Jiggs : Bob do you know what this is on the bearings?
Me : Umm oil?
Jiggs: No you retard thats the breakin coat from the factory.
Me: Ok im buying new bearings anyway dont mix any of them up
Jiggs then fondled with something else and mixed up all the damn bearings.

Kid has great potential though. He just needs to exploit his skills as a career.

It doesnt matter i didnt want to run out. Jiggs said the tubes are mad small. I think that blueprint head studs are just as good. I only ran aftermarket headstuds incase i ever wanted to pull the head. Not because i needed the additional protection.

whats so different about tuning non-vtec k-series? :ponder
