New Drive Clean tests

there is no cheek engine light in are s14s so dose that make us fucked? if you have aem on a sr you can tune and lean it out before the test then tune it again after but ye this is fucked, not just us but even civics and 90s mussel cars too that are modified that’s why i said we now need too look into getting cars 87 or older that don’t ever need to be tested, i’m thinking mk3 rx7 or even and old v dub this blows big ass

you cant lean because you fail for NOx and O3 emissions and you cant rich because CH emissions.

nox has been taking out for the 1997 and older cars

either way just found a mint ae86 that i am going to get and swap my sr into and down the road go f20c

It’s tough now yes. And the engine light is for car newer then 97 only. And tuning with your email won’t help because ems may not communicate with the obd plug and then you’re screwed still. To be honest, everyone has known of the changes coming. If you didn’t bother to go vet your self an etest while you still could. That’s your own fault. Hopefully you’re not due until next year when someone has it figured out for getting around these things.

And I have joined the masses and am buying an 87 on the weekend. At first it was just because I wanted a cressida. But now I can make it mean and not have to worry emissions.

I took a KA 3 times in a row and it failed. I eventually learned to rev the fuck out of it right before you go in. Clear it out, and heat it up. Haven’t failed since.

well as soon as someone goes for a test with the 240sx with sr swap please post up here to let us all know the outcome and if you can still get hot rod tests done, really don;t want to get rid of my s14

how are people with 98 kouki or other 240sx with swaps going to get thru with this…

that’s what im waiting for the first person here to get a test im sure someones got to go get one done on this forum with in the next few months for sure im keeping my fingers crossed as they got rid of nox for the old cars and im hoping they will still have the hot rod option of so we should be very fine

for 88-97, couldn’t pictures be taken and then a completely different car be tested, two minutes after said pictures were taken? how does the process work so one cannot so easily cheat the system?

As I said above, the new system has live action help at a click of the screen. And since I don’t work at the mto and can not tell you if the cameras are recording at all times or not. I can’t give you a definitive answer. But tell me where you’re going to find the tech who is willing to risk his job and $55,000 fine for trying. Too many if’s right now. Hopefully someone figures it out soon or we get our damn machine and I can figure it out as to what we’re all going to have to do.

can somebody enlighten me about hot rod etest for swapped engines? if its still available? and if i go for one of these, does insurance automatically find out? and does the ministry find out/care that it is swapped when i register it?

shotty not getting the first test

solution go buy a brand new 355 or r35 gtr and keep it stock, oh but wait nobody on here or almost any car forum has that kind of money so only the rich get to play and have fun now :frowning: so get rich or die trying bitches lol

+1
been doin this for years, works errytime

Wow a lot of myths out there I have my license, yes it makes it harder to pass exspecially 98+ vehicles, I think it’s been said but it just checks the readiness codes and stored codes. 3 or more codes=fail. Hot rod car is defined as any vehicle with an engine installed in it that was not offered in north America with that engine for that year. Everyone is freaking out for nothing, if the car is already under your name and passes etest when you transferred it to your name upon purchase(which it had to have if your driving it) then if you fail you can still get a "conditional pass ". Two speed idle test for 97 and older vehicles actually makes it a bit easy to pass than the old system cause it only tests HC and CO instead of HC CO and NOx

yes  now i can go drop all my savings on my s14 and feel good being broke after

Im Surprised not many people seem worried about this etest. This new etest crap makes me not want to buy a 240 anymore.

^ that’s cause not many people are ignorant & they’ve posted useful information on this very thread that answers all of you people’s worrysome questions.

Probably better not to buy a 240, till your very sure lol…

ive wanted a 240sx for the past 7 years and i plan on getting one this year if everything goes as planned. And answered what exactly… if you have a modified 98 kouki(which is what i want) you are pretty much screwed unless its unmodified… Obviously i wasnt referring to people with s13s as theres a way around it but still hard non the less.

and driving a 1995 clone just got a little better…

This is true. And probably all 97’s are going up in price as they are considered as obd1
