i haven’t really read anything in this thread… i see the thread title and I’m like… “lol, who e-tests a 240sx anyway???” and then i move on.
Hahahahahahahahahahaahahahhahahaha exactly what I was thinking.
I think this whole new system will be shit on in a few months or a year. People won’t be happy, and will make computers to trick computers. There will always be away around this crap.
Yea eventually there will be a way around it. but the question is when…
if it is how buddy said for the 97 and older cars then we should not worry who cares about newer cars if were on a 240sx forum they will be screwed and will have to buy older cars like we have
Its not as hard for 97 cars and older but its still hard. you cant have any cel lights on people with stand alones or maybe even chipped computers are screwed
cheek engine lights apply only to 98 and newer plus are s14s don;t have that shit anyway if i had one it would have been on since i did my swap and got rid of all cats years ago
no one has gone for an e test yet? someones got to go some time soon enough
I e-tested my 97 sebring, I had the cel on but I know where to go to overlook that… my code points to the control solenoid on the trans, which I’ve replaced, but the code comes back
My egr is clogged too, but he ran it in 2nd to get the rpm high enough to pass on second chance
I thought 98 and older was just a two speed idle test?
why did he run it in second?
the idle test passed, the 40km/h test was the problem…
they do not do 40km/h tests anymore… you must of done the OLD etest.
anything 98 and older is just a basic 2 speed idle test, thats it.
anything newer then 98 just gets plugged in.
Hot Rod tests still work.
The last year of vehicles allowed to be able to test under “Hot Rod” is 1999.
It will still be a regular 2 stage idle.
You will still need a letter and they will take pictures of the engine bay.
There was a part I read saying that the swap must have taken place before some certain date but, I can’t remember atm where I read this and if it was true.
EDIT: IT’S ON PAGE 2.
Fairly certain insurance company doesn’t get info like that from the MTO but, if you were to get into an accident and went to get covered without letting your company know the cars been “modded” it won’t be covered anyways.
Most companies won’t allow mods past stereo and wheels with receipts.

For the test to pass. You NEED a working CEL.
When you turn the key ahead before starting the car, does the CEL flash? If not, instant fail. If it does and stays on while running. Fail.
Thanks for combining.
and what about if the car dose not come with a cheek engine light? im sure theres alot of older cars that have none, and this whole new system should be getting scrapped by next year, it’s causing nothing but problems for the whole auto industry and BC has already scrapped it so hopefully Ontario will be next and we will have no more e tests.
Like the bulb taken out?
If your car is 98+ OBDII it WILL have a CEL.
i don’t care about 98+ cars i will never own one i have my 95 s14 and mk2 jetta and plan on keeping my s14 as long as parts are available for it so the main consern is will it matter if there is no cel coming on for a old 1995 car? if it’s just two speed idle and nothing plugged in my jetta dose not have one either either.
its gonna get scrapped.
^This. Not necessarily scrapped, but I have a feeling somethings going to change. Dealers and shops are complaining like crazy, its a huge topic with TADA right now. So many failures for unrelated issues, dosn’t matter the age of the vehicle.
read this!
^ That doesn’t solve much at all. Just another way to get more money out of the dealers, and it’s still a waste of their time. What’s a “conditional pass” anyways?
That GIF is the only way to describe the feel

I was told anything older then 92 didn’t need a test.
