so here is the motor in the crate ready to go to AUTOWERX teh company that will assemble it.
thats the new name of augustino’s right?
i’m actually going over there to meet up with malcolm strachan hes picking up his vette - also an LS1… well bored and stroked anyways
yep thats the new name for them…
when you are there tell wade that I will be coming soon, and let him know who I am …I spoke to him briefly on the phone this week…
i’ll tell malcolm to, im sure he knows who wade is
did you get my PM about the brembo blanks?
what year is that beauty and what did it exactly come out of?
and im calling the cops you stole it for $1000 damn ive been looking for fun and nothing less than $2500
His engine needs to be built, it’s not done, drop it in, etc… That’s why it’s less money.
i think from a 2002 firebird
you gotta take it drag racing just to see what it’ll do dude
it will blow out my r200 thats what it will do
not really interested in drag racing…a 2800lb car with 310-340hp and 340ftlbs will do a good 11 sec run easy… it wont be any quicker than my KAT at 21psi boost…just more responsive and reliable
So Adam whats the next move in this project? waiting for parts? still looking for parts? get a move on it
Buy Jammin’s Tomei 2-way diff with 4.88 rear end!! That thing will haul ridiculous amounts of arse.
^^^^
No. Maybe if he was making 130 hp and wanted to feel fast.
With the powerband available from the LS1, he could probably do better with 3.70s. He won’t need the super steep gearing of the stock 240.
And I wouldn’t worry about the R200. Ben Diggles pumps more than 600hp through his with slicks, wheels up in boost. The axle stubs give out before the diff will. He goes through a set of axles every couple passes though.
There’s a few decent driveshaft places out there that make decently strong ones for the R200.
I’ve just spent the last 2 hrs reading other peoples success stories with their LS1 swap.
Seems there is more to modify than i thought, Im sure Adam you already know about all the mods needed for this to work.
Just some questions if you have the time.
- Are you using the stock crossmember and modifying it or going R33
- You mentioned youre going with the Hinson package, what headers will you be using to clear the steering?
- have you looked into the whole clutch problem people are having? I guess Hinson also makes a clutch system are you going to use that?
- Im interested if youre gonna join the exhaust into one or have original dual exhaust?
If I end up doing this swap in the near future I think there is enough info not to spend extra money on the Hinson package, but rather mod my own mounting brackets.
My biggest concern is not the actual fabricating, but on the wiring, how are you planing on solving that problem?
thanks
I just love this swap and want to stay on top of things thats all
^^ wiring is apparently pretty easy… but i dont know details. one of the ones I know is that RPM is read off of only 4 of 8 cylinders on the ls1 so the tac wiring is made easy because of that… amoung many other likenesses…
heres an example of softmounts in an s13… you can sort of see the notched crossmember as well it looks like

- wiring
1=using modified crossmember template from hinson…will weld up myself.
2=will use stock headers and bastardize the driver side to go around the steering…might even make a log manifold …not sure yet…will have to see if a block hugger header might work…
3=will use aftermarket clutch…and stock 240sx clutch cylinder and pedal, will fab up a custom plate to actuate t-56 throwout
4=will use my current 3 inch single exhaust with a cross over from the other bank…should flow ok
5=will use a painless wiring kit…4 wires to hook up plus engine connectors they also come with the anti theft delete for the ecu and all relays and fuses…they are all labled…so it should be easy enough
where I am at…
1=Ls1 is going to autowerkx next week for assembly…they will take 2 weeks…they will also get me an intake manifold and headers…and will give me a list of all the other parts I am missing (alternators, injectors, fuel rails ect…) and i will order those from GM and they will assemble them.
2=hinson kit on order will have in 2wks…
3=looking for t-56 and GTO oil pan …direct from GM…
4=will ask autowerkx what wiring kit is the best and easiest…since there are about 4 mfg’s of them…
5=will start pulling the turbo KAT this weekend and document and sell of the turbo parts asap…
6=after engine is out will repaint engine bay, and hook up strut towers and frame to the roll cage for added rigidity
7=will start swap in about 4wks once i get total engine back…
when I start to do all this…anyone who wants to help can…any help would be greatly appriciated… if you want to be put on the help list…please e-mail me at
this should be a very unique project to work on
If this swap becomes popular, we could get Bing to make knockoffs of the Hinson headers so they’re actually affordable  From what I saw of them, they don’t look ghetto rigged at all, so they should flow quite nicely. Personally, I think they’re worth it, but you’re a lot more experienced with fabrication, so I guess it makes sense for you to make your own.
Excellent, glad to see it rolling nicely, Where are you located Adam, I’d love to stop by and lend a hand when youre into it.
keep us updated when parts start to roll in, im sure youll be posting pics so cant wait.
located up in Alliston, about 45min north of TO
so most the turbo engine stuff is pulle dout of the car now, and the LS1 is at the engine builders, and alot of the swap parts have been sourced…
