yeah deffinitly, I normally walk forward with that if I’m really not intrested in the car once I look at it. I’ve bought several cars for less than half the asking price by knowing what to look for and how to haggle. Most of the time, I have no problem walking away. Never under estimate the power of, If I take it RIGHT NOW. Lol. I called some buffalo kid on craigslist about a honda some time ago. His girlfriend anwsered, and was texting him what i was saying and replying to me lol. Talked them down from 1000 - 450 before I got there.
Showed up with a trailer, the car was worse than i anticipated, and there was misinformation. I told him i wasnt intrested and went to leave, he was like well a tow truck driver offered me 200 for scrap. I was like I can beat that but thats about it. I went and sat in my truck for a minute, he came up, said he’d take 350, I said the best I can do is 225. He said 275. I said I really didnt want it. some minutes went by and he took the money lol. I cut it up for like 1200 bucks lol
I’m not sure where it says or where you got that I asked for the lowest price? What it says is he gave me his lowest price. I said I like the car and was going to make an offer but he said “honestly I would take XXXX” and it was going to be my offer anyways so I said cool, done deal.
He put the price I had in my head on the table and I took it. I’m not sure how that is pertinent to the situation, or why I’m even answering your fucking retarded comments that are in every thread I read but that’s what happened.

I always make them give me a reason why I should take less. From the sale of my last bike, not many people will nit-pick something in person, especially when the ad lists what needs to be done. You can’t try to get money off an asking price when the original ad already says it needs tires, brakes, chain and sprockets.
yeah i traded him a bimmer for a bike that was advertised as mint and ridden regulary and maintained yet when i brought it home and went through it that was definitely not the case. the rear caliper fell off on the ride home along with a bunch of hardware falling out, has a terrible head shake, flat spotted tires, coolant and oil from 1985, a leaking clutch slave amongst a lot of other odds and ends. also had a slight hang up with it not being actually titled to steve. it didnt bother me that it needed work but i wasnt informed of how much it really needed. but, thats just how used vehicles go i guess. just kinda sucks because of how thoroughly i went throught the BMW with him.
why is everyone getting on ieatpaint about this? not all of the issues can be seen when purchasing the vehicle, it may not have rained for a while and ieatpaint didnt know until it did rain, while it was clearly stated that steve did know. he knew about all of the issues as was told by who he got the car from but did not forward those to the new buyer, in his ad he clearly stated that it just needed balljoints. the fact that it was a deal on an online community of local fellow enthusiasts and he didnt let him know, thats just shitty. ieatpaint is not asking for anything, he is simply putting it out there for others as a heads up. now to see 2 other members post about bad deals with him or his dad, i know for sure i wouldnt bother buying a car from him. i dont think the age of the car or the price has any pull in this discussion at all.
No matter how you state it, very few people are grasping the point of this thread. No matter how many times I said I didn’t really care about the issues and that I cared about the fact I wasn’t made aware of some somewhat major issues is my problem. It’s not like they were little things like oh the trunk sticks sometimes. 4 blown shocks and a leaking sunroof are something to make the buyer aware of. This was made as a review of my transaction. I gave him props where he deserved it and I stated my issues.
there is a special place in hell for people who falsely represent something they are selling. If you know your POS has a bad whatever and don’t tell the buyer when asked, you are a fucking scumbag, no ifs ands or butts.
I’m not saying its not also the buyers job to research the car, and its your own risk when you buy something old and used, but being a shitfuck seller is uncalled for.
