so the M5 got dinged. need advice.

Why didnt you claim you witnessed this?

It would be considered collision as it was with another vehicle.

Yes, the OP can do that, but he still has to pay his deductible, which is most likely higher than the quoted $360.

If I still had access to the software at work I would have run the plate for him. However, even if the OP makes a claim against the other parties insurance, they are going to deny it based on word vs word.

Collapsed roof is much more expensive than a windshield.

plus its easier to crush a roof than it is a wind shield.

Hit and Run is not classified as a collision, it is usually covered under comprehensive which has no deductible(shouldn’t at least)

Each policy may read slightly different but a collision is when contact is made with another vehicle or object regardless if the vehicle is moving or not.

Comprehensive coverage is when you strike an animal, something falls on your car (tree/branches/hail), missile (yes, missile - but what they mean is any type of projectile - acts of war are usually not covered:lol:), vandalism (Hit and run doesnt count as vandalism) etc. etc… also known as “other than collision.”

I can almost guarantee a hit and run is covered under collision under the OPs policy. Or it is possible to have a UM PD claim which is an uninsured property damage claim. However, most policies in NY do not have this coverage. I handle claims all day long… I have a pretty good handle on the difference between collision and comp.

Some companies do cover a hit and run and waive the deductible. State Farm is one of these companies. However, it is usually up to the adjuster to waive that deductible or not. Companies like Progressive would never do such a thing as that costs them more money…

my insurance is nationwide so im not sure if they would make me pay my deductable or not?

People have no sympathy, especially when they have pieces of shit they call a car. I would of chased the fuckers down.

With a hit and run claim usually you have to. A few years ago, during the winter someone destroyed my moms Envoy’s front end. $4k worth of damage. Made a hit and run claim but she had to pay the $500 deductible.

can you determine where they live from the plate number?

then pay them a covert visit.

Brian

If it happened in a parking lot the best thing to do is find out where he lives and just slightly loosen a brake line of his so it bleeds out slowly.

That will teach him.

Parking lot accidents suck, if someone doesn’t man up and admit fault you are usually fucked. Take matters into your own hands. You could get aids now and wait for him to reproduce and then rape his children and give them aids. You could break into his house while he sleeps and fuck him in the eye sockets and then pee in them when you are done. You could kill all his friends and family in a torturous manner and make him watch the snuff film you made of it all.

Just suggestions.

thanks, ill keep that in mind.lol

anyone wanna run a plate for me? Johnnyv?

IF… you can get thier address i would make up a professional letter (making it look like they are getting served) for the amount, and leave them your contact info if they would like to settle out of court…

i know landlords who have made up things like this and slap on thier doors and seems to work every time.

so what would have happened to them if you were by yourself and not with your wife? :stuck_out_tongue:

if ya need a paint guy i can hook ya up 100% 2mrrw even if ya want, very PERSONAL family friend of mine, did all my cars and family’s cars, theyll beat schmitts for sure, if they couldnt id be shocked

dunno if you can do it anymore but the dmv used to have a plate # lookup form for just such an instance

think it used to be like $21

No, it wouldn’t.

This would be classified under the same umbrella as vandalisim. This wasn’t a collision… I fail to see a road, or police citation.

life is unfair, and most people are trashy… not much you can do about it. getting bent out of shape for extended periods of time because someone that probably hasn’t thought about it since dinged your car is surely getting the short end of the stick.

Number?:snky:

:banghead:

vandalizm is considered a malicious/mischievous act. Collision is contact with another object or vehicle. It does not matter if your car was on the road. There does not have to be a police report or citation, your car does not even have to be moving. If the other parties car made contact with the OPs car in any way, shape or form, it is a collision claim.

Im done arguing with the insurance noobs. I deal with hard headed people all day that dont know squat about insurance claims. Carry on

Good, because you’re also wrong. If my car is in my driveway and a trash truck backs into it and doesn’t admit to it / leaves, that’s covered under comprehensive… same as if a tree fell on it - whereas, if I backed into a trash truck while DRIVING my car, that’s a “collision” thus it’s claimed under that.

Now, if the owner of the trash truck were to make a claim after hitting me, yeah, HE claims it under his collision coverage because, you know, he COLLIDED with something.

I’ve been “fortunate” enough to have to make enough insurance claims in my life to know the difference (yes, I’ve had a tree fall on one of my cars, heh).
