srteet racing law now in full efect

Someone on this forum said this was a violation of the charter. Sections 7 for sure and 9 i believe. Gnereally a violation of human rights not legal rights…

I realized this new enforcement is similar to ATA (which got shot down a coupl,e months ago)

Which leads me to believe that an appeal can be made.

HAHAHAHAHHA this law is funny, and this thread is even funnier!!!1

One of my guys, my guys cuz im the manager :p, said that they previously tried to pass this but it was shot down because it was against the charter like Cal-Soy Said. Can anyone verify that?

you drive a riced out civic

what do you expect?

move to toronto and drive fast then talk about tickets

cops

Hi

lol every one street races… for example last year i made many trips to shannonville and every one has been in the 200km/h range for a while… i ve done it way more than once. ive also gone to cayuga alot and been pulled over when leaving because my car is “modified”… so wtf where do the expect us to have fun?

more could be done to reduce the number of accidents by makign cell phones illigal or pulling evey minivan or suv off the road lol, if they are gonna profile profile evenly those busted van drivign peeps shoudl be getting harrassed jsut as much as we are lol

I hate the fact no one talks about bogus tickets in another way…

if you work 9 to 5 every day far away from where you got the ticket, even if you fight it and win you could still lose $100 in pay and expenses and at worst $400 if you hire those ex-cop ticket services … all for accomplishing nothing

what I’d like to see is cops fined for writing bogus tickets to balance any expansion of powers they might get, the potential for abuse is huge, it’s mostly harassment as it is

the worst driving offenses in general I see are by annoyed driver’s with their families in the car in heavy traffic, also cabbies, and especially dealer plated vehicle delivery drivers

the most frequent speeders I see are minivans/suvs and the average domestic sedan p.o.s… not the sports cars… I’m not saying they don’t speed as well just that they do it less dangerously

Everyone has to be super careful now. It seems that cops have a hard time differentiating driving fast side by side and street racing.
One driving a modded car can be accused of street racing if he passes another modded car on the highway. All depend of what the cops seems and how he interpret it.
Even going to the meets may now be a bit of an issue now. They will portray a meet as a whole bunch of street racer gathering in 1 location.

So technically, since drunk driving seems to be a lesser fine then street racing, keep some fine wine in the glove box. It would only make since to start drinking as soon as you see the cherry behind you after street racing. You will get your car impounded but at least you can avoid the 10000$ fine because you will be DUI. LOL

A friend got caught this morning doing 180 km in his tercel, it was classify as speeding, I am sure that it the car was modded , it would be call street racing.

PS: Cayuga is now open every friday and saturday night, they will start opening on wednesday starting next month. They also will be having a street racing night once a month ( no clock, no time slips , just challenge someone and get it on )

Can’t anyone READ ?

The law has been introduced in its FIRST READING. It HAS NOT PASSED YET. And it is very likely that in its current state that it will not.

What is this “read” thing that you speak of?

it’s about to go to committee and pass second reading and, more than likely, this bill will pass into law.

the nitrous oxide provisions haven’t gone through but you can bet your ass Klees will do his best to add that back in.

minority government…

die on paper, die on paper (fingers crossed).

basically when a bill is introduced its read (in the house of commons [parliment]), suggestiosn are made/revisions, this happens 3 times then off to the senate, then the Governer General for an official signature, then its law

^I must have missed the 1st reading part, but here is a quick explanation of how bills’ become laws
(for the noobs)

except this is the ontario government not the federal govt

Don’t street race, don’t drive like an idiot, don’t do 180km/h on the highway, basically don’t attract attention to yourself and I’m sure no one will bother you.

Andrew.

I want Dalton McGuinty to drive around with me for a night in a modded car on the streets of Toronto.

I think what some people are missing is the point that they are basing this bill on flawed information.

I hate to bring up the profiling thing again … but

It would be like trying to pass a bill allowing the profiling of black guys when statistics are on hand to show they are responsible for less than .2% of crimes committed.

Not that either circumstance is ‘better’ but with the racial profiling issues with Toronto cops, at least they had statistics to back up the fact that profiling was successful

The reason they threw this out the last time was that it was far too vague. They’ve softened the language and added it to a drunk driving bill.

So basically, if they don’t support this bill, it will be viewed as not supporting anti-drunk driving legislation.

The problem, and the problem that has always existed, is the lack of a DEFINITION of street racing. Hell, they even referred to it as Speed Racing in the bill. As it stands now, and has always stood, was “racing” had to involve a change of money (ie a wager) and you had to be caught in the act.

Even though they got colorful commentary out of the friend of the cab driver killed by Need For Speed Underground-owning rich kids in mom and dad’s Benzes, I’m sorry, that isn’t “street racing”. It’s two idiot kids making bad decisions.

Just like the Mom who drove her and her two kids into the canal in New Market while chatting on the cell phone. It doesn’t take a modified car to make a bad decision.

Keeping drivers from making bad decisions will save lives. Fining kids $10,000 for possibly passing another car, or maybe having a little bit of a 2nd gear pull with a friend isn’t helping anyone.

Even if they got every single “street racer” off the streets, it would save what … .01% of lives lost?

Hmmm … weren’t we supposed to be trying to curb gun violence? Or figure out how to stop the club district (Soho) from turning into a killing field every weekend.

We’ve got gun battles in broad daylight on Queen street (not just the Boxing day event) and we get to hear that street racing is “no different” than gun violence.

How about we get busy on getting people to PAY ATTENTION while driving? When was the last time a “street racer” plowed into a car stopped at a red light in broad daylight, gorgeous summer day in a clearly marked intersection? Anyone else get to see the little darling who crashed her Explorer into a stopped car right in front of Trillium? Yeah, was awesome how the other car burst into flames, the driver was trapped inside and burned to death. Yep. And the girl who was driving, admitted to chatting on her phone, got let off?

Not to defame the dead, but honestly, most of these so-called alleged street racing deaths were caused by bad decisions on the other drivers’ part. Pulling a u-turn with no regard for oncoming traffic, turning left on a green light in front of oncoming traffic.

I don’t condone street racing. I also don’t condone driving recklessly, whether or not you’re in a modified car.

But, I’m also a bit of a lead foot. I will do WOT runs with anything I own, if I feel the situation is as safe as I can make it. I’ve also been known to let other people find out what my car can do, if they ask for it.

Is it street racing? Not in my eyes. Why? Because you can prove a hell of a lot in 50 yards, get off the accelerator, and back to the limit.

Now, when it’s two goons running for 10 minutes, from one end of the highway to the other, in and out of traffic, down residential roads, THAT’s dumb. It is a situation you can no longer control.

Hypocritical? I don’t think so.

^^ wow a big post, shud be put into the star cuz i agree with everything you said

i never said the cops are wrong for doing so, im trying to say that even tho some teens with nice cars are NOT driving bad when a cop sees them, the cop is still suspicious of them because of their history with other teens that did race or what not, ending in a pull over and a bogus ticket… kiddo…read carefully

the sons of bitches just want money, the end. Safety my ass, security my ass, well being my ass. All just money money and more money.

Japanese cars don’t get imported due to ‘safety’, ‘emissions’ and 'insert random bullshit. 15 years+ later, they can be imported, a few years later no, they can’t lets change that to 20+ years later… why? Unknown reason, how about a GM and Ford can suck a cock reason.

Gay marriages happen, gas still goes up. Invade more countries, gas still goes up. Go to mars for billions of dollars -> gas still goes up. Shuv something up your ass, gas still goes up. Slap somebody, gas still goes up. Arrest somebody --> gas still goes up. Overtake an old person going 40km not able to drive on a highway, gas still can go up and lets just all shuv it up the as. Oh no, what’s that, flashing pig lights, ‘racing’ overtaking a slower old geezer driver who can’t drive his or her gas guzzling oldsmobile that can barely keep a straightline.

I’m pretty pissed, lunatic rant

Gas prices + safety/security/well being = Big shuv it up your ass assholes.

And another thing, cops are big time crooks and after money too nothing else. “To serve and protect” their own f’en wallet. The whole damn system is more crooked than Nixon himself. Justice my ass. A system where a crook and criminal can have ‘fair trial’ as an innocent person, and where that criminal through lies of a lawyer can be set free and the innocent through the lies of the prosecutor can be put behind bars, is a system booming for crookedness when in the grip of a minor few.

Ever since the fall of the liberal part and the election of the cons, Canada has been becoming a shithole locally in every sense and even internationally loosing image.

I was on a three month trip abroad, and all drivers over abroad drive really fast and really well… ironically there are little to no accidents. The only ones who cause accidents are old people who drive too slow and have marshmellow reflexes.

Instead here we get 90+ year olds driving looking through steering wheels and not the windshield making you think from the rear of the car that the car is driving itself with some kind of primitive A.I.

Gas prices… yes they’re high in europe, but the people make alot more money too versus the low value of our money… and do not have to pay taxes on foods and cloths every time they come to the register only to find out that the shown price on pickup is less than the price outcome after the register. In the middle-east things are even cheaper, yes people make alot less money, and yes people drive fast, but yea gas is dirt cheap, and despite some drivers being cheap too, they despite the crazy driving, drive better and crash less. Heck, even the roads which are smaller in eurpoe and middle-east, which one could consider ‘dangerous’, are more safe than the shitty highway driving we have here, with our whale size lanes.

In conclusion, the ‘safety’, ‘security’, ‘well being’, and other hardcore horse shit, is nothing but a a scam for money and more money.

Can you believe I got a fucken ticket in front of my own family’s house in Brampton? When? 3:20am! WTF?! Can that cock cop shuv his cock up his own ass. 20$ my ass. I can buy my family some pizza for that. The hell they will take my money.

More and more that I have had interaction with cops, the more I notice they are nothing but power hungry pigs. RARELY do I see a nice police officer; all of them have attitude instead. Thinking they’re the shit. Almost everyone in york region gets pulled over randomly for jack shit.

And the politicians, well, they can go suck their own cocks, because if they are going to run a country, either it should be what the people want or it should be something ‘good for everyone’… but when it’s something ‘good for themselves’, then it definitely is neither what the people want or what’s ‘good for everyone’…

The next thing you know, every car will need to have GPS monitored speed and location and it’ll be required by law, and the next thing you know, it’ll be illegal to even lift your hood open because you are not government certified and it’s illegal to tune your own vehicle, because a vehicle shall be the tool of transport under the guidelines of our motherland

Even houses, when you buy one here, it’s like you don’t really own the house, you’re still a slave to the land, you do not own the land or the house. I don’t want to build a house where I am restricted as to how I want to build it, in what style and so on… suuure I COULD do that, but paying what, four times the price, because the government restricted it so? Hah!

How about then cars, shall that happen to cars too? You can’t modify your own car, why? Because we say so, or else. Then the next thing I know, I don’t even own the car, it’s owned by the government, and I’m only allowed to operate it under so and so lame restrictions making me hate to even have one.

The next thing I know, I can’t wear the cloths I want, because the government hates me for the style of cloths I chose. Why? Because no reason, the government said so.

end ultra angry rant

And in the end, guess what, I drive safe, I drive well, I watch for cars in front braking, including the car in front of teh car in front of me, so that I brake in advance, I always check my rear view mirror to not slam on my brakes too much so that someone hits me from behind. I ALWAYS look left and right, forget sideview mirrors, I always check directly because of blindspot and greater clarity. I always keep an eye on rear view mirror. I always scope in the distance for my surroundings, front and rear, especially front in the directions I’m travelling. I alawys look out on left and right to see what’s going on so I’m fully immersed and aware of my environment. I always move to the right lane so that people who are in a hurry can pass me. I stop at all lights, I never run through yellows except for example today when it was raining and I didn’t want to risk sliding in the process from trying to come to a full stop. The list goes on.

So what’s my problem? Asshole rules, which are meant to affect ALL OF US, whether we modify or do not modify our cars, ESPECIALLY if we modify our cars.

Why don’t we all just start being issued driving permits and GM geo shit suzuki isuzu variants of econocrapboxes with programmed A.I. to drive us.

Fuck owning a ferrari, if you can’t even drive it, fuck owning a ferrari if the government rapes your wallet each month on insurance. Even insurance… who does it benefit. I sure as hell doubt my ownself! Or any of you for that fact!

Through so many people I know, if they crashed or were crashed into, they barely got jack shit! All that money spent on mandatory insurance could have been used elsewhere or saved, and if there WAS a car accident you could actually HAVE ACTUAL money to pay for it… in the end, in a car accident, there’s little that can be salvaged no matter what money you have if it was serious and… no matter WHAT insurance premiums you pay, in a car accident money can not buy life back.

So all in all, all that the government, politicians and corporations ‘advise’ with ever so elebaorate excuses and explanations of safety, well being and security boils down to nothing but money money and more money.

May they take this bill and every other bill shuved up their asses burned deep deep deep deep down their asses.

bullshit bullshit bullshit, horseshit.

I might as well buy a damn isuzu gm metro piece of shit and make this crooked cock suckers money happy.

This is beyond ‘idiot driving’, this is about us being turned into a state where everything is being controlled down to the smallest sand pebble size of detail. Step by step.

Remember for the history buffs, taxes were a temporary thing as well in the united states once long ago… i forget about canada.

All big things start small.

AND honestly if they give so much shit care about ‘stopping street racing’ not that I encourage it, but I am just angered at the horse shit of the government… HOW ABOUT THIS… CREATE race tracks MANY race tracks of good quality and cheap entrance price such as the nurburgring, and believe me even tokyo dorifto racers will go to the track and learn how to drive properly.

But I bet, if aaaalll of us in Canada of aaall the modified car forums combined came together to petition for say 20+ race tracks to be built in Canada in the next few years, they would turn us down and tell us we’re crazy…

Then again I recall a few years Canada building skating rinks to stop ‘immoral and illegal activities from the punk crowd’. Last I remember, no one ever almost skateboards anymore.
