Underbody rust prevention

I really should get this done on the Volvo.

Step 1: Move South

Step 2: [Optional] Turn on TV and watch fools in the north rust proof their cars

SCHMIDTS RUSTSTOP ON TRANSIT/BROADWAY

why not gain access to a lift or get the car on jackstands. then coat underside and wheel wells with 3M(or like brand) undercoating? whole job should take 4-5 cans and they are $3-$6 a piece. the savings alone is worth it and the shit lasts longer than one year

that schmidt’s stuff really is nice for cars up here, we have a few customers who have older cars that have been done every year. early 80s cars and trucks with no rust, and from ny… lol… hard to find… i did mine soon as it got to ny, and ill do it every year after… oh and for you that want to play, they do sell the gallon for like 35 bucks… but its like trying to spray lucas…

your stock as a car guy just dropped to zero

Hey, at least it’s for his winter beater

hey that car is fuckin cleaN! except for where the previous owner bounced off 17 rail gaurds

hopefully this will be me once i get my degree

Wanted to give some feedback.

I booked my appointment for a Friday I would have off. I was scheduled for 8 am last Fri. but my dumbass thought it was for 11 am. I show up at 11, thru no fault at Carwell, and admitted I was late once they told me I was booked for 8. They said “No problem, have a seat.” They took my Truck in between 2 FedEx trucks. I was in and out in less than 45 minutes.

My truck was COVERED with Salt, Snow, and Ice right after that nice strom on Thursday. It did not matter to them. They cleaned all the shit off before they apply there coating. It is safe for rubber, glass, electrical connections, etc…

They do everything - seams, jambs, fender wells, both bumpers, hood, battery connections, hinges, frame mounts, etc…I mean EVERYTHING.

In their brochure they state it does not matter if the vehicle is new, somewhat rusty, or a rusty pos. Any prevention will help. Also, their brochure had a $10 off coupon (Make sure you grab one off the stack when you walk in) which they let me use. That covered the cost of a spray can of the same stuff on my truck to use on my snowblower, car, house, etc…

Application is once every 12 months.

Total cost for Ext. Cab Pick-up w/6 Ft Bed = $95 + Tax.

 to Carwell. I will be going back next year. Hell, I may even take my MR2 there even though it does not see salt because the coating protects against moisture which can damage other things.

POR 15

I dare all of you to just spray the shit out of your underside with por 15. Make sure to do it while perched under the car with no facial protection or gloves.

Post results.

I do mine with usen engine oil mixed with engine honey. This is the result
2003 silverado has seen and plowed hard every winter. Underbody still has paint on frame and even stickers.

Which location did you go to? Just want to be sure I go to a place that has good customer service.

I’m thinking about having my Jeep done next week. It’s got hardly any rust and I’d like to keep it that way- Cherokees don’t seem to like the salt.

I went to the one on Broadway in Cheektowaga.

ive used 40wt motor oil and motor honey before. sprayed it on with a eastwood undercoating gun. thin a little with kerosene and it sprays on better. you have to adjust the air pressure down till it starts coming out like snot.

Brian

Thinking about getting it done to my TB.

Shit guys, any tips on a location around NJ/NYC/LI?

i havent read this whole thing but oil treatments like ‘rust-check’ are obsolete.

the guy who started rust-check sold it. He found a better way to rust-proof cars but didnt beleive that he could rebrand the oily, smelly, drippy rep of rust-check.

his new company is calles ‘corrosion free’.

We are using it in Canada at a few locations.

You can literally spray this stuff right beside another vehicle…

there is no smell, no drip, and almost no over spray… you barely need protective clothing… it’s incredible.

I would recommend finding a local guy using the corrosion free application and make a habit of that.

oil spraying is retarded.
