What's everyone running for winter tires this year?

Stud them yourself just poke small nails threw the tire then have them put it on the rim  or you can do the old fashion was and put some chains on them lol!

I’m running my allseasons with chains on them should be a good grip and tread

well the winterforce are studdable

I have Dunlop graspics. They are kinda shitty.
Poor in ran. Ok in slush and ok in snow.
Prob the worst snow tire I’ve had.

I’m not that impressed with mine yet. But we haven’t had any real snow. Good thing I got them super cheap

im still on hankook ventus V12’s and man do they blow in the wet / cold

no wonder they are so cheap

nope my buddy runs the exact same tire and size on his G sedan in the winter. HA

Any true summer tire sucks when it starts getting cold. The rubber compounds are not designed with sub 40 degree temps in mind. My V12’s work just fine in the rain when it’s warm out. Last night even in the dry they were pretty slippery, but it was in the 20’s when I was driving home.

Looks like next week the temps will be getting down into snow friendly territory. Think I’ll slap the snows on the car Sunday morning since I have to go to Chautauqua for work Tuesday and I don’t want to be driving back and get into a lake effect band with my summer tires on.

Yep, this is why I put my snows on earlier than most people. When it started getting into the low 40’s my summer tires didn’t grip well at all.

Incidentally though, I put them on in early April last year and wound up having to drive through an inch of snow a couple times. It wasn’t as bad as I expected but at first I :sb:

I remember when I had Azenis RT-615’s on my autocross car that I garage stored during the winter it couldn’t get up my driveway in a couple inches of snow. My driveway has just enough incline to barely make water run to the street. I can’t imagine getting caught on the street in a real snow with those tires. I’d probably just park it and come back when the snow melted. Heh

The good news was that it both times it happened it was on a weekend so I didn’t have to drive across town to go to work, just around my neighborhood to the store and stuff.

If I would have had to drive from South Buffalo to Amherst I would have been better off buying a $50 cab ride. At least I would be alive. LOL

I believe they are re-capped tire (like on tractor trailers) they have metal imbedded into the rubber for improved grip (they claim).

This year im running Pacemark Snow Trackers (Sams/Walmart snows) on the Forester. The last set was a set of Blizzak WS-60, till the wife curbed them and blew out the sidewall. Wile they are a AMAZING tire they are a bit overkill for the lack of snow we get in Corning NY. I ran a few different speed rated snows on my old Prelude and Dunlops and one other i can not remember which and neither compared to the “cheap” snows from Sams!

Those Green Diamond Tires sound like an interesting concept.

I’m not sure about their other models, but the tread pattern on the Icelander A/T is clearly a ripoff of the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo:

Considering the Revo was the best tire I’ve ever had on a SUV that’s not a bad thing.

Jay, they do seem interesting. Does anyone have any experience with these or is livin4hockey’s post below the only post that mentioned them? I scanned through real quick and only saw his post that I copied below.

I’ve never heard of them until I saw the post you copied. Their website doesn’t inspire much confidence.

Haha yeah I know it looks like two guys in a garage made it. It doesn’t mean it’s not a good idea though. LOL

The last time I saw something like this:

and something like this:

on the same page I’m pretty sure I was surfing with 50 free hours of AOL on my 486 DX.

HAHAHA

Got them put on today. Thanks to Paul at swerve  And yes, it does sound like I am driving on a gravel road all the time now  Just waiting for it to snow…

I had those the last couple years. The scars on my new concrete driveway will be there forever to prove it. :frowning:
Incredible tire though. I loved passing people doing 10mph while I was going 60mph.
